Carl Anthony McCoy, son of the late Calvin McCoy and Margaret McCoy, was born on April 20, 1958, in Newark, New Jersey. On Monday, February 16, 2026, Carl transitioned peacefully from this life in the comfort of his home, leaving behind a legacy of strength, excellence, and unwavering love.
Carl was a proud graduate of Arts High School in Newark, New Jersey, where he majored in art and distinguished himself as a stellar baseball player. His extraordinary talent on the field earned him a full scholarship to Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, where he pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering. It was during his time at Lincoln that he met the love of his life, Jennifer James. The two were united in marriage in 1981 and shared 44 beautiful years together.
From this union, they were blessed with two sons, Devin and Kellen McCoy, who became the pride and joy of Carl’s life.
Carl built an accomplished and respected career in engineering and operations management. He began his professional journey with Curtiss-Wright Flight Systems in Fairfield, New Jersey. He later joined Clark Hirth Ingersoll Rand in Statesville, North Carolina, where he served as Quality Control Manager.
He continued his professional growth with Dana Corporation in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, serving as Quality Manager before being promoted to Plant Manager in St. Johns, Michigan. Carl later became Plant Manager for Carlisle Corporation in Bloomington, Indiana.
These leadership roles allowed Carl to travel extensively, experiencing cultures and landscapes across the world, including China, Japan, Vietnam, Spain, England, and many other countries. He embraced these opportunities with gratitude and curiosity, always expanding his knowledge and perspective.
When Carl became a grandfather, his priorities shifted toward family. Desiring to be close to his “babies,” he returned to Oklahoma and became Operations Manager for Pratt & Whitney at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After a distinguished career marked by integrity and excellence, Carl retired in the summer of 2023.
Above all his professional accomplishments, Carl’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and an adoring grandfather. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Calvin and Margaret McCoy.
Carl leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 44 years, Jennifer McCoy; sons Devin McCoy of Blanchard, Oklahoma, and Kellen McCoy of Norman, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law Amelia McCoy of Norman, Oklahoma; sister Brenda Matthews of Sicklerville, New Jersey; brother Greg McCoy and sister-in-law Rona McCoy of Jackson, New Jersey; brother-in-law Cedric James of Teaneck, New Jersey; sister-in-law Diane James of Teaneck, New Jersey; and his five beautiful grandchildren, Addison, Kinley, Aden, Mira, and Micah McCoy, all of Norman, Oklahoma. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many devoted friends.
Carl lived with strength, fortitude, and determination. He led with wisdom, loved without condition, and fought life’s battles with quiet dignity and courage. His presence was powerful, and his example unforgettable.
May he rest in power, for he truly showed what strength, resilience, and fight are all about.
Rest well, King.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Primrose Funeral Service, 3901 N Flood Ave., Norman, OK 73069, US, on March 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
