Carol Ann Azimi, 61, passed away peacefully at her home in Norman, OK on Wednesday September 18, 2013. She was born on January 18, 1952 in Danbury, Connecticut to Mary and Paul LaCava. Carol attended Quinnipiac and Georgetown University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. While taking national certification exams at Columbia in New York City, Carol caught the eye of Mehdi Azimi. Coincidentally, the two shared plans of attending the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center; where Carol received her Masters in Speech Pathology.
A self-proclaimed advocate for the “underdog”, Carol’s love for others and selflessness was demonstrated by her over 25 years of work with multi-handicapped children. She has served as Director of Child Study Center, Speech Pathologist at Easter Seals and numerous years as a private practice speech pathologist. Carol was an avid Norman High School volunteer; continuing her position long after her children had graduated. She served as the event coordinator for Oklahoma Children’s Cancer Association for nearly 20 years, bringing holiday celebrations to children and families undergoing treatment.
She will be remembered by family and friends for her ability to see the good in all people, her endless patience and her unconditional love.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents. Carol is survived by her husband Mehdi; sons Jian and Bijan; and daughter Ariana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 21, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 N. Porter, Norman, Oklahoma. Private interment services will take place at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery of Norman. There will be an Evening Vigil Prayer Service, held at 6:00 PM, Friday, September 20, 2013 at the St. Charles Borromeo Chapel in the St. Joseph Parish Family Life Center, 421 E.
