

Carolyn was born on September 28, 1936, in Norman, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Ted and Altha May (Cockrell) Greenshields. She graduated from University High School in 1954 and later attended O.U., OCCC, and Moore – Norman Vo-Tech. She worked at OU, the City of Norman, the Norman Transcript, Edward Jones and owned Plaza on the Green gift shop for several years. She continued her business ventures later in life with real estate investment properties. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church, receiving honorary membership in Christian education for service in the church, which included working with cub scouts and the youth group, singing in the choir, serving as Chairman of Circle 6, as Vice President of the Women’s Association and as a campfire leader. She was also was a volunteer at Norman Regional Hospital serving as gift shop chairman and surgery volunteer chairman. She participated in the Red Stockings Follies for several years and was talent chairman in 1979. She also participated in the Shenanigans and Sooner Theatre Follies.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Merilyn Dunsworth; and one brother, Jim Greenshields.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Moon and husband Steve of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Julie Blacksten of Norman, Oklahoma; her son, Steve Rutherford and wife Melissa of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her sister, Pam Newkumet of Norman, Oklahoma; her sister-in-law, Kay Greenshields; nine grandchildren, Amy Sheppard and husband Oliver of London, UK, Michael Moon of Portland, Maine, Christopher Moon of San Francisco, California, Brandon Blacksten and wife Courtney of Hydro, Oklahoma, Brett Blacksten of Springfield, Missouri, Garrett Blacksten of Denver, Colorado, Cassie Blacksten of Fayetteville, Arkansas, J.P. Rutherford and wife Kelsey of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Anna Rutherford of Tulsa, Oklahoma, two great grandchildren, Ava Sheppard of London, UK, Elsie Blacksten of Hydro, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews.
