Mrs. Catherine Nse Udo was born on August 7, 1967, to Uwem Jacob Nsimah and Eno Uwem Nsimah in the village of Ikot Nsidibe, Okon Eket LGA, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. She began her primary education at the Holy Child Convent School in Calabar, Cross River State, and her secondary education at the Community Secondary School in Ikot Uso Ekong, Eket. She further pursued her education at the University of Cross River State, Uyo for her National Certificate of Education (N.C.E.) and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Education in 1991. From 1991 to 1998, she worked for the permanent secretary for Federal Manpower Development in Lagos.
In 1997, Catherine married Nse Udo, and together they welcomed their first child, Lucy. The family moved to Norman, Oklahoma, in 1998, where Catherine and Nse were blessed with two more daughters, Jacqueline and Geraldine.
Catherine was a hardworking, God-fearing woman who was deeply devoted to her family and community. One of her passions was cooking delicious Nigerian delicacies for her family and friends. As a 2016 graduate of Platt College, she devoted 16 years of her life to serving others as a Licensed Practical Nurse, showing compassion and grace in all she did. Catherine instilled in her daughters the values of perseverance and hard work, always encouraging them to strive for their goals and never give up.
Catherine’s love for her family was boundless, extending beyond blood relations to anyone she held dear. She had a remarkable ability to light up any room, whether through her radiant smile or her joyful stories, and her presence will be profoundly missed.
Catherine is survived by her beloved husband, Nse Udo; her cherished daughters, Lucy, Jacqueline, and Geraldine Udo; her siblings, Lucy Atakpo and Aniete Okon Edem; and several nieces and nephews. She is reunited in heaven with her parents, Uwem Jacob Nsimah and Eno Uwem Nsimah.
Catherine will forever be remembered in our hearts as a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend.
