

Charles Lonzo Ward was born on June 11, 1937, in Hugo, Oklahoma. He was the son of Francis Lonzo and Grace (Payne) Ward. He grew up in Hugo, Oklahoma, attending Hugo Public Schools., He moved with his family to Norman in 1949, where he attended Norman Public Schools, graduating from Norman High School in 1954. Following his education he met Helen Ann Strategier at the Sooner Dairy Lunch and they married on June 1, 1956, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norman. They made their home in the Norman area. He began his career as a meat cutter for various grocery stores and later managing a meat market. He also sold real estate farms and acreages and was a cattle raising farmer. He enjoyed being outdoors, traveling, country music, smoking meat and spending time with his family. On June 1, 2016, he and Helen celebrated sixty years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Jean Finch, Francille Behymer, Martha Jones, and Linda Ward;
He is survived by his wife of over sixty years, Helen Ann Ward of Norman; three sons, Ricky Ward of Woodstock, Georgia, Curtis Ward of Tribbey, Oklahoma, Bruce Ward of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; only daughter, Ladonna Ward Cook of Norman, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and one brother, Cole Ward of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the Primrose Funeral Service at 10:00am, with Rev. Norman Behymer officiating. Burial will follow in the Norman IOOF Cemetery.
