Claudene Channell

Claudene attended school in Carter, OK and graduated from Carter High School in 1955. She then moved to Norman, OK and attended business school. She began her career at Central State Hospital in 1956 as a secretary and was promoted to Executive Secretary/Assistant to the Superintendent of the hospital until she retired in 1988 after 32 years of service. During the years of 1980 through 2003 she also was the Executive Secretary of the Oklahoma Psychiatric Physicians Association full time, and worked as a consultant part time through 2011.

Claudene met and married her husband, Wesley Eugene Channell, on August 30, 1957 and shared 64 wonderful years together. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and traveling with her husband and family on vacations as well as attending several out of state OU football games, as she was a big fan. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Norman, OK.

Claudene is survived by her husband, Wesley (Gene) Channell and her daughter, Lisa Galey and son-in-law, Gayle Galey, Jr., of Norman, OK; her grandchildren, Samuel Wise, Todd Wise, Sabrina Bible, Julia Jorns and Logan Jorns; 2 great grandchildren, Aurora and Noah; her sister, Mary Bills of Sayre, OK, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Jack D. McClary.

A visitation for Claudene will be held Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 N Porter Ave, Norman, Oklahoma 73071. A funeral service will occur Friday, May 6, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service.
