Cynthia "Cindy" Rose Barrett
February 15, 1961 – October 26, 2019
After a hard fought battle with cancer, Cynthia “Cindy” Rose Barrett of Norman, OK passed away on October 26th, 2019 while in Hospice care at the age of 58. She leaves behind her husband, Ledley Barrett; 2 daughters, Rosita Fletcher and Aliviah Barrett; and son, Jesse Dominguez.
Cynthia “Cindy” Rose Barrett, was born February 15th 1961 in Taylor Texas to Abel and Lorraine Dominguez, who predeceased her. Cindy moved frequently as a child due to her father being in the Air Force. She lived in many places around the country, from Mississippi, New Mexico, Texas and North Dakota. Her family finally settled in Norman, OK when she was a teen and she remained there until her death. She went to Norman High School and graduated in 1979. She went on to work many years at Griffin Memorial Hospital and gained many lifelong friendships there. She also worked as a Teacher’s assistant in Norman Public Schools. It fulfilled Cindy’s heart to work jobs where she could help others and make a difference.
Cindy married Ledley Barrett on October 25th, 2001 and resided in Norman, OK all of her adult life. There Cindy and Ledley raised and cared for their children.
Cindy was a caring, devoted and loving wife, mother and friend. She enjoyed dancing and singing to music, especially reggae. She was a fan of science fiction TV (Star Trek, The Twilight Zone) and movies of all genres. She enjoyed spending time with her favorite people; playing cards, going to the movies or just chatting. She was a spiritual woman, practiced selflessness always and was a lifelong advocate for her son with special needs. Cindy was a warrior in life. She fought for a prosperous life for her family and fought even harder when diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2008. Cindy remained faithful and strong, even throughout the final weeks.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Ledley Barrett; three children, Rosita Fletcher, Jesse Dominguez, and Aliviah Barrett; son-in-law and granddaughter, Matthew and Carina Fletcher; as well as her brother and sister-in-law and her nephews, Dan, Susan, Kyle and Blake Dominguez.
