Danny Allen Fryman, 70, was born August 24, 1953, in Glendale, California, and passed away on March 14, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was the oldest child born to Luther Allen Fryman and Ruby Ellen Luker. After Luther passed away, the family moved to Oklahoma where Ellen met and married Eldon Moore.
The Moore-Fryman family lived mostly in and around Oklahoma City where Danny continued to reside for the remainder of his life although he divided his time in his final years between Oklahoma City and Hugo, Oklahoma. When Danny retired a few years ago, he spent a lot of his time at Lake Hugo where his boat was docked. Many weekends and later full weeks were spent on the boat on the lake…one of his favorite places to be…enjoying time with family and friends.
Danny graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Thomas. They had one son Joseph Allen Fryman. He later met and married Penny Weber, and they had one son, Michael Ryan Fryman. In 1991, Danny met Gaylene McCallum with whom he shared his last 32 years.
Danny had two great passions, the lake and music. Danny’s love of music propelled him into the nightclub business where he worked for over 40 years as bartender, DJ and manager in various nightclubs in Oklahoma City and Midwest City. There wasn’t a part of the business he wasn’t familiar with. He worked for over 20 years at Sherlock’s Club. Danny loved to sing and to dance and although he never learned to read music he could play almost anything on the guitar. Some of his favorite evenings were spent with grandson, Mathew Orr, playing music anywhere there was a microphone.
Danny also worked with his stepfather, Eldon Moore, installing fences. He poured concrete and learned all kinds of construction work from the ground up including pouring concrete, carpentry, plumbing and electrical work turning to flipping houses in his later years. He could do it all. Danny was a Jack of all Trades and a Master of Most.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Allen Fryman and Ruby Ellen Moore. He is survived by his stepfather Eldon Moore, Allen, Oklahoma; his sons, Joseph Allen Fryman and his wife, Rebecca, Hugo, Oklahoma and Michael Ryan Fryman, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his two younger sisters, Angeline Louise Allen and her husband, Larry and Carolyn Elaine Margerum, and her husband, Melvin. Danny is also survived by Gaylene McCallum of the home, having shared their lives for the last 32 years; and sons, Kenneth H. McCallum, and his wife, Cristy, of Oklahoma City and N. Kyle McCallum, Hugo, Oklahoma. In addition to the four sons he claimed, Danny had seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren with one expected in October and four nieces and two nephews.
Danny always will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor and not only his knowledge of things related to renovations and repairs of houses, boats and cars but most importantly his willingness to share that knowledge with anyone in need. His greatest trait was his willingness to help anyone with anything he could provide. We could not have asked for a better love, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend and we will miss him every day.
A memorial service for Danny will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071.
Danny will be laid to rest in Mars Hill Cemetery, Macomb, OK.
