God's Angels ushered Daryllyn Selby's beautiful soul to Heaven on August 12, 2021.
Daryllyn was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, on December 3, 1958, to Sally Freeman. Sally later married Nelson Wisser, the man Daryllyn claimed and loved as her father. For most of her childhood, Daryllyn and her family traveled the country in pursuit of new opportunities. They eventually made their way to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It was here that she met her first love, Timothy Selby Sr., the loving father to all five of her children.
After graduating from Myrtle Beach High in 1976, Daryllyn and Timothy moved to Virginia. They began the Selby family legacy with children Timothy Jr., Ashley Nicole (d. July 22, 1983), Lisa, and Tyler. The family eventually found their way to San Antonio, Texas, and gave birth to their third son, Tanner.
Daryllyn’s family meant everything to her. She was the undisputed matriarch, the Italian mamma jamma who brought people together for special occasions large and small — from birthdays to almost every holiday and many times in between. No one will forget her lavish meals during these gatherings, prepared with love and her perfect touch.
Motherhood started early for Daryllyn, and she cherished the role of homemaker for her family. Her children were her pride and joy, and her dreams for them knew no bounds. She was a nurturer, a sports mom, and a dance mom. She was the "Hey mom, my science project and book report are due tomorrow, can you help me?!" mom.
Daryllyn always had the right words to say. She instilled strength into her children and grandchildren, a gift that continues to this day. She would always say, "I love you to infinity and beyond!" And she was often heard passing on such words of wisdom as, "Accept things you cannot change and change the things you can."
Her beloved role as homemaker and mom turned into her ultimate dream of becoming a grandmother. She loved her grandbabies more than life and declared that she would live in their hearts forever before her passing.
No matter who was around her, Daryllyn had an air of sophistication. She turned heads with her beauty, style, and grace. She was fashion-forward, loved shopping, and enjoyed going to restaurants — where she was never shy about telling people what she thought about the meal and service.
She also loved being on the water, boat rides, and soaking in the sun. On the water on Lake Dunlap, she grew fond of her partner of more than a decade, Dennis Crawford of New Braunfels, Texas. She loved and cared deeply for his fantastic family.
Daryllyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Ashley Nicole Selby, and many extended family members.
Daryllyn is survived by her mother and father, Nelson and Sally Wisser of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; her children Lisa Aplet and spouse, Ken Aplet of Lafayette, Louisiana, Timothy Selby Jr. of Carlsbad, California, Tyler Selby and spouse Audrey of Carlsbad, California, Tanner Selby and spouse Josh Sauer of Norman, Oklahoma; her ex-spouse, friend, and co-parent of more than forty years, Timothy Selby Sr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dennis Crawford, her long-time companion; her grandchildren, Jacob McManus, Kenley Aplet, Karter Aplet, Adalynn Selby, and Taylor Selby; and her granddogs, Oreo and MJ; as well as her sister Lisa Atkinson, nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
The first service for Daryllyn will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Primrose Funeral Service Chapel at 1109 N. Porter in Norman, Oklahoma. A live stream will be made available for those who are unable to attend in person. A reception will follow.
