Diane was born on January 13, 1947 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and attended Norman High School. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a master’s degree in Library Science in 1970. She married her high school sweetheart Jim Keeley in 1970, and had two sons. Later, they adopted their daughter Zinnia.
Diane had a passion for sewing. She spent many, many hours buying fabric and making placemats, tote bags, steering wheel covers, baby books, baby blankets, baby burp clothes, tree skirts, and many other creations. Then she sold her creations at craft sales in Colorado and Oklahoma, while enjoying meeting and talking to new customers and old friends.
When she wasn’t sewing, she was looking for opportunities to help others. Diane frequently gathered or bought food, clothes, and coats for shelters and food banks. Her love, empathy, and compassion was admired by her loving family and friends. She would act to help those in need without concern for herself, and she was there for them when all the others had gone away.
She was preceded in death by her father Alvin, her mother Florence, and her brother Alvin Jr. Diane is survived by her husband Jim, her sister Marilyn, her children Jared, Joe, and Zinnia, and her grandchildren Audrey, Scarlett, Jaxton, and Kaelyn.
Diane will be laid to rest in Saint Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma (https://www.regionalfoodbank.org).
A memorial service announcement will be forthcoming.
