Dolores “Lorse” Hancock passed peacefully from this life to her heavenly home August 12, 2023. She is survived by her daughter Lynn Peterson, granddaughter Jacque Story, sister Bonnie Jo Hubbard-Short, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Hubbard and Mattie Stowe-Hubbard, her brothers William Ralph Hubbard, Preston Hubbard, and Bobby Gene Hubbard, and her sister Margaret Hubbard-Mullins.
Dolores was born July 20, 1924, in Bennington, Oklahoma. She married Thomas Hancock March 30, 1957, in Durant, Oklahoma. Dolores worked at Mobil Oil in Dallas, Texas, for many years as an accountant, retiring in 1980 after her husband passed. Dolores lived in many different locations to be near different family members, including Dallas, Duncanville, Lewisville, Greenville, Eureka Springs Arkansas, and most recently Norman Oklahoma.
In her last few months on this earth, Dolores met Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She began to love Christian music and God’s Word read to her and was “waiting on Jesus to come get me”. Jesus did just that on August 12, 2023, with her niece present, and it was a beautifully gracious passing.
Until we meet again, Lorse, we love you and are jealous to be with our Savior as you are now, running on streets on gold and swimming in crystal clear water and seeing His face.
“Our citizenship is in heaven and we eagerly await a Savior from there, The Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables Him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like His glorious body.” Philippians 3:20-21
A graveside service for Dolores will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Mausoleum & Memorial Park, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225.
