Doug was born the youngest of five siblings to Velma Kirk and Earl Vincent Jr. on June 4, 1954. He was born and raised in Union, Missouri where his love of Cardinals baseball began. Being the youngest of five, Doug always had his siblings around and stayed incredibly close with them throughout his entire life.
In 1972, Doug followed his mom and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. This move led him to meet the love of his life, Kay, while he was her boss at Arthur Treacher’s Fish and Chips. They were married on July 6, 1974.
Doug is survived by his wife, Kay; daughter, Melanie Vincent; son, Chad and daughter in law, Carrie, and their boys Austin and Aidan, who were the joy of Doug’s life. He is also survived by his siblings Jim and Debbie Vincent of Union, Missouri; Rita and Gregg Wehmeier of Union, Missouri; Nancy and Dick Ketcherside of Owensville, Missouri; and Mark and Susan Vincent of Union, Missouri. He was blessed with a large extended family of nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends. He is preceded in death by his father Earl “Junior” Vincent of Union and his mother Velma Vincent of Union.
During his years at Arthur Treacher’s and then Rockwell International, Doug met many friends that became family. He then moved into the restaurant business beginning as a manager at Taco Tico before eventually purchasing seven stores. Many great years were spent at Taco Tico and many more friends were met during this stage of his life. As well as loving his employees, Doug loved watching Melanie and Chad’s friends come through Taco Tico. Many even worked for him at one point or another.
The love shared between Doug and Kay was beautiful and pure. Married at 20 and 17 respectively, Doug and Kay grew up with each other and had a once in a lifetime love. They were each other’s strength and guidance. Together they enjoyed watching Chad and Melanie’s hobbies and activities as they grew. Doug’s passions were baseball and family. He loved spending time with his family and he equally loved his St. Louis Cardinals baseball. His favorite activity was to spend time on the ball field watching his grandsons play ball and he was blessed to make some very special friends during these last years of his life through his grandson’s baseball teams.
Family was everything to Doug and he is now in Heaven watching from above and paving a way for the rest to join him at a later time. He will be there to welcome them with open arms and to play a game of catch. Doug’s family finds peace knowing he is now healthy and running the bases on the field. In honor of him, please take time and play a game of catch with someone important in your life and think of Doug.
