Francis Joseph Lies, Jr. 80, of Norman died, Monday, December 05, 2011 in Norman. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10AM Friday, December 9, 2011 at St. Thomas More University Parish with Father James Goins officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.
Joe was born January 28, 1931 to Francis Joseph and Mildred (Alden) Lies in Oak Park, Illinois. He attended Boston College and later was the owner of Joe’s Place in Norman. He prided himself in building a very successful business. Joe was a member of the Norman Business Association and the Knights of Columbus. Joe was a member of St. Thomas More University Parish. He enjoyed fishing and boating.
Joe is survived by his wife, Anna “Peggy” Lies of the home; a daughter, Kathleen Lies Hallren and her husband, Martin of Norman; one grandson, John Michael Hallren; three nieces and eight nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Alden Lies, and his wife, Dorothy and a sister, Nancy Lies.
The family has suggested donations be made to St. Thomas More University Parish or St. Thomas More St. Vincent de Paul at 100 E. Stinson, Norman, OK 73071.
