I'm a little late to this but here goes. I come from a family of hams here in Ohio and I got my novice in the early 90s. I was 12 years old back then and Gordon was one of my first contacts on ssb 10m I still remember him saying I'm in stormin Norman Oklahoma. We talk several times back then and Gordon was one of the first people to send me a qsl card in the mail which I still have to this day. As I got older I got out of radio for many years then in 2010 I obtained my general license and one day I believe t was on 20m I heard a familiar call sign and I called to it. And sure enough it was Gordon still in stormin Norman Oklahoma.  He hadn't changed and was still an old school ham even after nearly 18 years. We talked several times before life took me away from radio again. But recently I got the bug to get back into radio and Gordon's call was one of the first I looked up on qrz. I seen that his call was expired and I had a feeling his key had went silent which led me to a Google search which brought me here. So with that I'll say this from Ohio to Oklahoma W5OU de W8AJL 73s  Gordon thanks for the memories and give a 12 year old ham some great conversations even though I'm 46 now I still remembered you after all these years even though we never met in person.

I knew Gordon from the time that we both were employed by OG&E.   Gordon was the "company" surveyor.  A very knowledgeable individual.  He actually calculated and determined that the "base line" for the State of Oklahoma land records were off by quite a large margin.  He brought that information to the "State Archives" group.  They did in-fact verify that his calculations were accurate.  Gordon was a detail individual and double checked anything that came out of his office.  He is the one that got in interested in being a "radio man".

I first met Gordon at the SCARS (amateur radio club) Field Day in 1994, my first.  He was friendly and very knowledgeable.  I rarely saw him after that, but he was always friendly on air.

I'm saddened to learn of his death.  j c
