Technical Sergeant Gregory Lamarr McCallister “MAC”, 44, went home to the Lord, in his Norman, Oklahoma home on April 9, 2020. Mac was born in Winterhaven, Florida on August 31, 1975, son of Gary Lamarr McCallister and Shaila K. McCallister.
After 22 years of honorable service in the United States Air Force, Mac retired as a distinguished medal combat veteran. Mac served valiantly in Afghanistan, as the leading convoy gunner, while assigned alongside the US Army 82nd Airborne Infantry and the US Navy Seabees, during Operation Enduring Freedom. Serving as one of the first deployed convoys on scene, immediately after 9/11, Mac was assigned with the US Air Force Special Forces unit in Iraq, during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Mac had a big heart. He loved his Country and the Great State of Texas. He fought as a brave Airman, was an outstanding leader who was admired and respected as a Non-Commissioned Officer among his peers. He was loved by all. Mac told the greatest jokes, never backed down from singing Karaoke, as he was always the life of the party.
Mac is preceded in death by his father, Gary L. McCallister; his mother, Shaila K. McCallister; His brother, William D. Richardson II.
He is survived by his only son, Gregory Lamarr McCallister II, and his loving mother Dedra Williams; his only daughter, Sophia Mariabella McCallister, and her loving mother Carmen Vega; His sister, Traci Guciardo, (nieces) Lindsey Sonnier, Ashele Terrell, (nephews) Alexzander Guciardo, and Zaine Strader , sister Kristeen McCallister, (nieces) Jamie Arlaus, Shelby Arlaus, (nephews) Michael Comer, Dylan Arlaus, Chase Arlaus. (Papal) Jack Justice, Aunt Janet, (Fred) Lambert, Joyce (Mike) Omlid, Jody (Gerald) Brown, Timothy (Kathy) Justice, Jackie (Karen) Justice, Otis Justice, numerous cousins and his friends.

Services are currently not scheduled because of restrictions from the COVID-19 virus. A celebration of life will be held in San Antonio Texas, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, in Mac’s honor at a later date and will be announced by the family.
