Haco attended kindergarten in Dardanelle, Arkansas, and continued his education in Purcell, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Purcell High School in 1995. In 2012, he earned a degree in Culinary Arts from Platt College in Oklahoma City. On June 3, 2018, Haco married the love of his life, Cassie Browning, with whom he shared a deep bond until her passing on March 16, 2019.
Haco loved all kinds of music and could tell you the background stories of the artists, writers, and band members behind each song. He especially loved to tease his mom by playing bluegrass in the car, just to get her disgusted reaction and share a laugh. He enjoyed cooking with his mom, reading, spending time with his friends and family, and working alongside his dad on projects around the house. Haco had a generous spirit and a big heart, always welcoming friends into his parents’ home, whether they were there or not.
Those who knew Haco learned valuable lessons from the way he lived; never be judgmental, always be kind, and remember that everyone needs a friend. His compassion, humor, and warmth will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cassie Browning; paternal grandparents, Ira and Marie Barfield of Okolona, Arkansas; his aunt, Marilynn Barfield Bland, of North Little Rock, Arkansas; and his maternal grandfather, Doyle Barrick of Danville, Arkansas.
Haco is survived by his loving parents, Neil and Sheila Barfield of Norman, Oklahoma; his grandmother, Melba Barrick of Danville, Arkansas; aunts Teresa Majors and her husband Harold of Little Rock, Arkansas, Hilda Porter and her husband Larry of Alma, Arkansas, and Ginger Templeman and her husband Troy of Danville, Arkansas; his uncle Randy Barrick and his wife Nancy of Danville, Arkansas; eleven cousins; a wealth of friends who will forever tell “Haco stories”; and his beloved rescue dog of seven years, Daisy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Primrose Funeral Service Chapel in Norman, with Rev. Charlie Williams officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Haco’s memory may be made to Sonrise Adult and Teen Challenge, 19792 Cache Road, Cache, OK 73527.
