Kenneth “Jack” Cornell, age 65, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, surrounded by his family’s love. Born on March 28, 1960, in Oklahoma City to Kenneth Robert and Sharon Gail (Brooks) Cornell, Jack lived a life full of laughter, hard work, and heart.
Jack graduated from Moore High School in 1978 and spent most of his life in Oklahoma City and Norman before settling once more in OKC, where he built lasting friendships and countless memories.
Jack married twice in his lifetime, each union bringing beautiful blessings and family. His first marriage was to Khristine Malone, with whom he shared three children: James, Kenny, and Janice. Later, he married Joana Rhodes, and together they had one daughter, Natalie. Though both marriages ended in divorce, Jack always held deep love and pride for his children and the families they created.
A true people person, Jack never met a stranger. Whether he was hunting, fishing, or working on a truck or lawn mower, he always had a story to tell and a helping hand to offer. Family and friends fondly remember his yearly “lawn mower lessons,” where everyone would gather outside as he taught them how to start and troubleshoot engines, one of his favorite traditions.
Jack loved going to junk and estate sales, playing solitaire, listening to classic country (and a bit of rock and roll), classic trucks and cars, and spending time with his family. He especially loved going out to eat and visiting with anyone who crossed his path. He held a special place in his heart for his buddies and the ladies from the bar. His stubborn determination was matched only by his gentle heart and willingness to help others.
Jack will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the way he made everyone feel like family. He leaves behind his children: Kenneth A. Cornell of Poteau, OK; James W. Cornell of Poteau, OK; and Natalie Cornell of Yukon, OK. He is also survived by his mother Sharon Cornell of Norman, OK; siblings Danny Cornell and wife Candace of Harrah, OK, Paul Cornell of Slaughterville, OK, and Cheryl George of Norman, OK; and his grandchildren Brayden Cornell, Kayden W. Cornell, and Ashlyn G. Cornell; and his furbabies Oscar the cat and Toney (Pig) the dog. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Robert Cornell, his daughter Janice Cornell, and his grandparents.
Jack’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught, the laughter he inspired, and the love he shared. His spirit will continue to shine in the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A visitation for Jack will be held at Primrose Funeral Service, located at 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071, on November 9, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The funeral service for Jack will take place at the same venue on November 10, 2025, starting at 10:00 am.
