

James Dean Sterling, 80, died peacefully Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Norman Veteran's Center. He was born September 5, 1932 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to James Hubert Sterling and Lottie Z. (McCalip) Sterling.
James graduated from Porterville, California in 1950 then attended Oklahoma University.
He went on to serve in The United States Navy during the Korean War.
James began a 30 year career for OG&E, he was a lineman supervisor up until retirement; then began full time farming up until recent years.
James Sterling retired to Noble, Oklahoma with his wife Betty, whom he married June 16, 1956.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty R. (Hansmeyer) Sterling, and sister, Barbara Durham and niece, Susan Anderson.
James is survived by children, Terry Sterling and wife Teresa of Norman, Oklahoma, James L. Sterling and wife Denise of Noble, Oklahoma, and Julie Sterling of Noble, Oklahoma and Linda Dundee of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Johnna and husband Kent Mosley of Norman, Oklahoma, Dylan Sterling of Norman, Oklahoma, J.L. and wife Jessica of Mobile, Alabama, Caleb Sterling and wife Doneisha of Norman, Oklahoma, Rose and husband Josh of Norman, Oklahoma, Breanna Medrano of Noble, Oklahoma, Mason Medrano of Noble, Oklahoma and Stacy Dunkin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Kylee, Addison, Ethan, Kaden and Citalee; sisters, Nevada Anderson of Norman, Oklahoma and Wanda Hicks and husband Joe of Wanette, Oklahoma.
James loved his family and enjoyed every minute he had to spend with them. He will be remembered for his gardening, hunting and fishing. He was an avid sports fan of OU Football and Thunder Basketball.
