Jennifer Ann Lain, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on May 9, 2026, at the age of 65. Jennifer was born on March 29, 1961, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Robert Breckenridge Jones and Sherry Ann Arwood Jones.
Jennifer was raised in Lawton and graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1979. Following graduation, she moved to Norman to attend the University of Oklahoma, where she was a proud member of the Tri Delta sorority. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and made Norman her lifelong home.
On August 10, 1985, Jennifer married Garry Joe Lain. Together they shared 35 wonderful years of marriage before Garry’s passing in June of 2021. Their marriage was filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Jennifer began her career as an office manager for a construction company in Oklahoma City. In 2001, she discovered her true calling as a Family Support Specialist with the Oklahoma Air National Guard. Through her work, Jennifer supported military families during deployments and times of crises. She found great purpose in helping others and retired from this rewarding career in 2015.
Jennifer was known for her vibrant personality and joyful spirit. She loved gathering with friends and was often considered the life of the party. She had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed playing games, and treasured every moment spent with her family. Jennifer especially adored her great-nieces and great-nephews and loved proudly sharing pictures and stories about them with friends.
She also enjoyed music from the 1970s, crafting, watercolor painting, and building intricate LEGO kits — believing the bigger and more complicated, the better. Jennifer formed lifelong friendships throughout every stage of her life, from her childhood in Lawton to her college years at OU and throughout her career and retirement. She was a caring, loyal friend who deeply valued the people she loved.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her father, Robert B. Jones; her mother, Sherry Jones Ford; and her beloved husband, Garry Joe Lain.
She is survived by her sisters, Martha (Jones) Ogle of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Marie (Jones) Vera and husband, Amado Vera III, of San Antonio, Texas; three nieces; two nephews; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; and many dear friends and extended family members who will miss her greatly. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Izzy, and cat, Milo.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Todd and Erin Kernal, who became like a second family to Jennifer, especially during the last several years of her life. Their love, care, and support meant so much to Jennifer and to all who loved her.
Jennifer will be remembered for her kindness, loyalty, laughter, and the genuine care she showed to everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
