Born in Tulsa, OK, John graduated from Central High School and attended Draughon’s Business School. He worked at Warehouse Market before starting a successful 50-year career in the wine and spirits industry. He retired in 2013. He never met a stranger, and everyone he met became his friend. He was a generous man whose words were always kind. He was proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
John was an avid sports fan. He loved playing golf and coaching his sons’ baseball teams. He may have been the University of Oklahoma’s most dedicated sports fan. He never missed a football kickoff or a women’s softball first pitch. He proudly displayed in his “OU room” all the Sooners memorabilia he collected over the years.
John supported many worthy charities including Relay for Life, Sip for Sight, The American Cancer Society and organizations supporting American’s veterans. He attended Generations Church, Norman, OK.
The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Ayers and Loving Care In Home Health Services for the care and compassion provided to John.
A private memorial service is planned for 10/23/2020 at 10:00am at Primrose Funeral Home in Norman.
Because of COVID-19 restrictions, attendance is limited to immediate family only, but the service will be streamed live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PrimroseFuneralService/.
