

John Wayne Watts, affectionately known as "John Boy," passed away on August 11, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on May 16, 1947, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to James Robert Watts and Evelyn Joyce Nickell.
John graduated from Capitol Hill High School in the class of 1965. Shortly thereafter, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970.
John was known for his joyful spirit, generous heart, and strong work ethic. He believed in living life to the fullest and taught those around him the importance of enjoying life and not being afraid to spend a little along the way. A gifted cook and a man who never gave up trying, he will be remembered as a hard worker who brought warmth and laughter wherever he went.
His perfect day would have been spent having fun with family and friends, perhaps cruising around in a golf cart during a clubhouse party, enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
He wished to be remembered as a caring, loving, and godly man. Those who knew him will undoubtedly carry forward that legacy.
John is survived by his children Tanya Pittman and her husband Greg of Edmond, Oklahoma, and John “JJ” Watts and his wife Ruth of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by his sister, Denise Cavenee and her husband Jerry of Blanchard, Oklahoma, and one grandchild, Reagan Pittman of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gerald Watts and wife Linda Watts, and his faithful companion, Lily.
A visitation for John will be held Monday, August 18, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home, 500 SW 104th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73139.
