Born on June 2, 1955, in McAlester, Oklahoma, to Travis Blanton Ray and Clara Christine (Jentsch) Ray, June grew up in Haileyville and graduated from Haileyville High School. She made her home in Hartshorne, Oklahoma, for many years before moving to Norman in 2010, where she lived until her passing.
June was known for her loving, caring, and compassionate spirit. She cherished calm days along the riverbed with a fishing pole in hand and delighted in lively card and board games with family and friends. Her joyful laugh filled the room during those gatherings, and her presence made every moment more memorable.
She taught those around her the importance of being your true, authentic self and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Gigi.” June also loved cheering on OU football and softball, sharing that passion with those closest to her.
An unwavering believer in Jesus Christ, June’s family finds comfort in the hope of being reunited with her in God’s heavenly kingdom.
June is survived by her daughters, Robin Ray and Dixie Ray, both of Norman; her sister-in-law, Delores Ray of Haileyville; three cherished grandchildren, Rielynn Thomas, Kynzleigh Thomas, and Ivey Grace Corbin; three nieces; two great-nieces; and six great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Johnny Dillard Ray.
