Kenneth served in the United States Navy and later worked as an avionics mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base, retiring in the mid 1990s. He and his wife, Charlotte, also ran a home daycare together for many years, caring for children who grew up knowing their house as a second home.
He was a deacon at Alameda Church of Christ in Norman and spent years helping keep the grounds there, quiet work that he took seriously and did faithfully. He was also known for his hat collection, which family and friends could count on him to wear and to talk about.
He lived in Norman for most of his adult life and moved to Edmond in his final year to be closer to family.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ann Bailey; his parents, Robert Lee Bailey and Mary Marjorie Smith; and his stepfather, R.E. Smith Jr.
He is survived by his sister, Joyce Marie Mason, and her husband, Charles Mason; her son, Jeff Mason; his daughter and son-in-law, Meria Leann Priebe and Timothy James Priebe; and his three grandsons, Joshua Ryan Priebe, Jackson Carter Priebe, and Jacob Matthew Priebe.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the care team and staff at Lyndale Assisted Living Center in Edmond, as well as Legacy Family Hospice, for the compassionate care they gave Kenneth.
Services will be held Friday, September 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Alameda Church of Christ in Norman. A family lunch will follow at the church building.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Residency at North Church in Oklahoma City to support the continued mission work of his grandson, Joshua.
