LaVon loved western movies, going fishing and hunting, and going to the casino.
He was preceded in death by his companion of 40 years, Peggy Johnson; brother, Ronald Shelton; and sister, Joyce Adams.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Gaylen Cates; brothers: Leon and Donald Shelton; sister, JoAnn Benson; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 pm, Monday, February 5, 2018 at Primrose Funeral Service.
