Lavonda attended Dunbar Elementary and was a 1968 graduate of Pauls Valley High School, where she played clarinet, basketball, volleyball, and softball for the 3-11 Club. She was very proud to be the first black waitress at the Steakhouse in Pauls Valley.
Lavonda was an avid reader who also enjoyed word games such as Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and Scrabble. She enjoyed being a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, and friend. A caregiver to many and loved by all.
On May 19th 2016, Lavonda gained her wings and joined her father, mother, brothers (Ronnie, Harold and Dwight), grandchildren (Braylon and Brielle), grandmother (Girtha Norwood), great grandmother (Beatrice Price), and grandparents (Brown and Mary Peters).
Her spirit lives on through her children: Tyrell Peters, Raquel Peters, and Danielle Kendrix (David); grandchildren: Ryne Taylor Swope, Tyson Zane Joseph-Peters, Hudson Perry, and Drake Kendrix; eight brothers and sisters: Alma Jean Poe, Cesar Peters Jr. (Treverlee), Tony Peters (Jewel), Terry Peters (Arva), Regina Stewart (Dennis), Reginald Peters (Felicia), Karl Peters (Jana), and Nicole Peters-Humes (George); and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends.
