

He was born April 23, 1938, to Lester Woodrow and Lola Mae (Shepard) Penwell in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.
He married Bonnie Lee Jolley on December 11, 1960 in the Chapel of the Pines on Turner AFB in Albany, Georgia. They were married for 52 glorious years.
Steve proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. His term lasted 27 years and he obtained the rank of E-8, Senior Master Sergeant (SMSGT).
Steve was a naturalist at heart, he enjoyed his flower garden and liked to fish. He was a grill master, enjoyed country music and took great pride in everything he did. Steve loved all animals. He enjoyed life, having fun and laughing. He lived life to the fullest and was an avid football fan. Cheering on his West Virginia Mountaineers was a favorite pastime. Everyone always felt better for having known Steve. He never met a stranger. His family always came first; he adored his wife and daughters.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie of the home; his two daughters, Kimberly “Kimmie” Penwell of Blanchard, Jennifer Penwell and her husband, James Cameron of Moore; Grandsons, Stephen Sean Penwell and his wife Brandy of Midwest City, Tereance A. James of Moore; his granddaughter, Raeanne Norris of Boulder, Colorado; his sisters, Mary Elizabeth Phillips, Joyce Youngblood, Judith McBee; his brothers, Ronald L Penwell, Richard L. Penwell; a large extended family to include, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends; and his beloved pets, Blossom, Honey “Lil’ Girl”, Moose and Tater.
His parents preceded him in death.
