Linda Sue Gore Lantrip, 73, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born on June 6, 1951, in Los Angeles, California, to Elmer Gore Jr. and Joyce Ann (Kelley) Gore, Linda spent her early years in Forrest City, Arkansas, graduating from high school with honors in 1969 before pursuing her dream of a career in medicine. From a young age, Linda had a curious mind about science, anatomy and medicine. Her ultimate goal of becoming a physician was preceded by an Associate Degree in Nursing and then a B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock while working full time as a nurse in a variety of settings.
Linda arrived in Oklahoma in 1984 to attend the (now) Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and received her medical degree as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) in 1988. She completed her residency in psychiatry at Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman, OK, and began a long successful career as a psychiatrist that spanned 30 years serving patients with mental illness. Additionally, she received certification in alcohol and substance abuse addiction.
Throughout her career Linda’s priorities were patient access to care and advocating for her patients on all fronts. As an extremely dedicated and committed psychiatrist, her compassion and intelligence for those suffering with mental illness allowed her to build trust with her patients and provide the best possible collaborative care for them. Her big heart and caring nature also extended to those who worked with her, as she equally valued and cared for staff and colleagues. She treasured her large network of medical colleagues and friends that grew over the years and had great appreciation for each of them.
Dedicated to her profession she thrived on being a lifelong learner, never missing an opportunity to improve herself as a physician. She maintained active membership in the American Psychiatric Association, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, the Central Oklahoma Psychiatry Society, and the Donahue Shadid Psychiatric Alumni Society. She was also a lifelong member of the National Alliance for Mental Illness, the Oklahoma Psychiatric Physicians Association, the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association, the Oklahoma Society of Addiction Medicine, and the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine Alumni Association.
Linda adored and loved her daughter, Alice, and could spend hours talking about her. Her trips and time shared with Alice were very special to her. When not working, she could be found doing activities with her longtime partner, Dr. Rebecca Feliciano. These included traveling, reading, watching movies, enjoying family dinners, attending medical conferences and visiting various casinos. In 2019, Linda was confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Norman, OK.
Throughout her life Linda remained very close to her family of origin. She never forgot her roots and remained very close to her parents and her five siblings. Linda was a big part of their lives and their extended families. She was a doting Aunt to her two nieces and three nephews. Holidays, birthdays, and celebrations were very meaningful and personal to her. Linda enjoyed reminiscing with her sisters, planning trips and traveling with them, sharing her favorite tunes, work updates, TV shows, articles, and offering help of any kind when needed. She enjoyed going to concerts and her favorite artist was Tina Turner.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Alice Fulk of Little Rock, Arkansas; her father, Elmer Gore Jr.; her brother, Sam Gore of Forrest City, Arkansas; her sisters: Joy Kay Barber of Dover, Arkansas; Jenny Lee Zuber of London, Arkansas, Rebecca Ann Sudbery of Newcastle, Oklahoma, and Lana Gore Ivy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, as well as two nieces, Lori (Shawn) Smith, Oklahoma City, and Samantha Gore of Memphis, TN, and three nephews, Casey (Jennifer) Barber of Calhoun, LA, Andrew (Amanda) Ivy of Oklahoma City, Levi Gore, Forrest City, AR and great niece Skylar Barber Ross and great nephews Jackson Smith, Reid Smith and Jarrett Thigpen.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Ann (Kelley) Gore, and brother-in-law’s Michael Zuber and Don Sudbery.
Linda leaves behind a host of close friends and colleagues who will also miss her smile, humor and caring spirit every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
