Louise Ratliff Hazlette peacefully passed away on October 4, 2025. She was born on January 24, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was adopted by Dr. J.B. and Marian Ratliff of Hobart, Oklahoma. Louise spent a wonderful childhood in Hobart and was proud Bearcat graduate in 1949. She pursued her college career at the University of Oklahoma. Louise was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. At OU she met Boone Hazlette through an ATO fraternity brother. They were married in 1950 and were blessed with two daughters, Cindy L. and Kathy L. They moved to Hobart in 1952 and raised their family there. Boone and Louise established "Boones Shoes" in Hobart.
Louise and Boone were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Hobart, where Louise was the Choir Director. She was also a member of Alpha Child Study Club and of the Chamber of Commerce. They began a wonderful journey in 1973 when Boone joined the US Shoe Corporation as a real estate developer. Their travels took them to Dallas, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Cincinnati, and finally, back to Dallas in 1985. After Boone passed away in 2021, Louis stayed in Dallas for a year and then moved to Norman, Oklahoma, in January of 2023, to be close to family. There she enjoyed her Sooner Saturdays with her extended OU family. True to her personality, while living at Rivermont she established many new friendships.
Louis is survived by her daughter Cindy and son-in-law Dr. Randy Brown, and by daughter Kathy Funk. She is survived by grandchildren Heather, Liz, Jacquline, and Leslie; great grandchildren Layla, Taylor, Thomas, Lily, Jonathan, Pierce, Page, Olivia, and James. And one great-great grandchild Noah.
A private burial will be in Hobart at a time to be determined.
