Margaret Jane Oliphant Townsend, 83, of Norman, was born May 11, 1931 to Burton and Bonnie Lou Oliphant in rural Cleveland County, Oklahoma. She grew up in the Clearbrok and Capshaw Communities in east Norman. She Moved to Norman in 1959.
She met the love of her life, Jim Townsend at Immanuel Baptist Church where they were married on May 29, 1971. They were lifetime members of Immanuel. Margaret and Jim loved vacationing with his family in Fun Valley, Colorado and trips to Big Springs, Texas. Margaret retired from Central State Hospital (currently Griffin Memorial Hospital) after more than 30 years of faithful service.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; two brothers, Otis Oliphant and David Oliphant.
She is survived by two brothers and their wives, Charles and Linda Oliphant, Bob and Debbie Oliphant as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00a.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Primrose Event Center, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
