Mary Lou Gunter

Mary was born to Lemuel Glenn “Bud” Eaves and Martha Elizabeth (Seely) Eaves on December 30, 1937 near Ratliff City, Oklahoma. She graduated from Fox High School in 1955 and went to work for Halliburton Services in Duncan, OK. There she became proficient in drafting and design and continued that career until she retired in March 2002 from York International in Norman, OK.

Mary Lou married L.L. “Buck” Williams in May 1955, with whom she shared two daughters, Rita Williams (Keith Teakell) of Grand Lake, OK and Teri Williams Ashworth (William Ashworth) of Edmond, OK.

In December 1984, she married the love of her life, Danny Lee Gunter, of Norman, OK and became stepmom to Richard Gunter Davis (Robert Davis) of Sacramento, CA and Eric Gunter of Douglas, WY.

She had two grand children, Parker Elizabeth Ashworth, and Evan Grey Williams Ashworth, both of Edmond, OK that she loved and adored. They especially liked her biscuits and gravy.

Mary enjoyed traveling with Dan in their RV to visit family and friends in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, California, Colorado and Texas as well as other destinations across the US. She liked playing bingo and slots at the local casinos and often won.

She will be remembered as a strong, bright, and independent woman who raised strong and independent daughters. She also contributed to the lives of many foreign exchange studies that she and Dan hosted in their home.

Mary is survived by a brother Jim Eaves (Annette) of Minden, LA, and multiple nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, and 4 brothers and sisters, Rex Eaves, Lloyd Eaves, Vinita McNeil and Loretta Witcher.

A Memorial Service will be held at Primrose Funeral Home in Norman, OK on March 10, 2023 at 10 AM after which she will be laid to rest in Velma, OK.
