

McMillan Payne was born on January 28, 1927, in Hugo, Oklahoma. He was the son of Elmer and Laverne (Cannon) Payne. He grew up in Hugo, Oklahoma, attending Hugo Public school, graduating from Hugo High school in 1944. He entered the United States Army serving during the Korean conflict and World War II. Following his discharge he moved to Oklahoma City and began business school. He began his career at OG&E. On June 10, 1951, he married his childhood sweetheart Elizabeth Ann Robison and they made their home in Oklahoma City. They then began their family having three precious girls. In 1994 they moved to Norman. He was a member of Goodrich United Methodist Church. He was also a Sunday school teacher with numerous volunteer positions. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed golfing, watching OU football, and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife and sweetheart, Elizabeth Payne of Norman; three daughters, Maylan Dunn-Kenney and husband Dan Kenney of DeKalb, Illinois, Macalan Taylor and husband Greg of Oklahoma City, and Malinda Veldman and husband Roy of Corsicana, Texas; Grandchildren, Jacob (Jamie) Dunn of Norman, Oklahoma, Brandon (Krystle) Wood of Lexington Oklahoma, Justin (Jordan) Taylor of Hainesport, New Jersey, Tyler (Nicole) Wood of Tyndall Airforce Base, Florida, William Payne Sharpley of Corsicana, Texas, Alexandra Veldman, Shelby Veldman of Dallas Texas and Peyton Veldman of Corsicana, Texas; two brothers; C.D. (Valerie) Payne of Moore, Oklahoma, and L.D. Payne of Wrightwood, California. He also leaves behind 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday March 3, 2017, at 10:00am at the Primrose Funeral Service Chapel, with Rev. Jim Shepherd Officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
