

Michael Lee Beam II, 57, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away, peacefully, at 6:15 a.m., on September 14, 2026, in Norman, Oklahoma, with family by his side. Michael was born on December 28, 1968, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. After a life filled with cherished memories of love, with laughter and even some tears with family and friends, Michael is now in the loving arms of Jesus.
Michael was a loving son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, family member, and friend. He was a person who hardly ever met a stranger. His warm, social nature, smile, and genuine kindness made him someone people remembered and cared about. Michael was kind and considerate not only to his family and friends, but also to many strangers, and he had a way of making those around him feel welcome.
Michael attended public schools in Edmond and Moore, Oklahoma; Great Bend, Kansas; Pampa, Texas; Chickasha, Oklahoma; Ninnekah, Oklahoma and graduated from Alex High School in 1988 in Alex, Oklahoma. He continued his education in Oklahoma at El Reno Community College, Carl Albert State College, and the University of Oklahoma. He played basketball at both Carl Albert State College and El Reno Community College.
Michael loved sports throughout his life, but basketball held a special place in his heart, although he tried many sports and activities doing his best to be the best. He loved playing street ball with friends and even played alongside some professional basketball players in various areas. Michael was known in areas he frequented for his basketball skills and his love of the game. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Oklahoma Sooners football and basketball teams, OKC Thunder and Dallas Cowboys. His family would say that Michael was quite skilled in any sport, hobby, or activity he attempted simply because he never was a quitter at anything he attempted to do.
Michael also loved listening to all types of music, cooking, trying new restaurants, and enjoying good food with others. He worked in many restaurants throughout his life, bringing his love of food and his social personality into his work.
Outside of sports, music, and cooking, Michael enjoyed being outdoors and spending time in nature. He loved walking, running, riding his bicycle, and simply going to the grocery store to buy his groceries. Most importantly, to his immediate family, Michael enjoyed attending church with them. He treasured the simple pleasure of spending time at his own home. Michael loved his family deeply. He made a point of checking with ALL his immediate family members, regularly, simply because he was interested in how they were doing.
Michael will be remembered for his big heart, his kindness, his smile, and his ability to connect with people. He leaves behind memories that will be cherished by his family and many friends of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He also cared deeply about his community and was involved in mental health awareness efforts, supporting the importance of education and awareness surrounding mental health awareness in his community that surrounded him.
It is important to know that Michael was a believer in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and he took joy in spreading the Word about knowing Jesus. His family finds comfort and peace in knowing that Michael is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Reford O. and Marie Cecil Foster and Herbert L. and Pearl Ruth Bailey Beam.
He is survived by his parents, Mike L. Beam and Karen Foster Beam, Norman, Oklahoma, his brother, Chad Foster Beam, Norman, Oklahoma, and his sister, Lindsey Marie Beam, Frisco, Texas.
He is also survived by his niece, Ragain Beam Melter and her husband, Matthew Melter, and his great-nephew, Maximus Melter.
He is also survived by his mother's brother, Larry Foster and Gail Foster and families, and his father's brothers, Jackie Beam and Ronnie Beam and their families, plus many extended family members, as well as friends, he grew up knowing and loved throughout his life.
A memorial service celebrating Michael's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on October 10, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 2301 E. Indian Hills Road, Norman, Oklahoma.
Michael's memory will live on through the family and friends who loved him, the lives he touched, and the many smiles, acts of kindness, and memories he left behind. Though he is deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing that Michael is at peace and now in the arms of Jesus.
