She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother and grandson-in-law.
She attended Oklahoma State University; Iowa State Teacher’s College while serving in the Navy; Blackwood-Davis Business College after World War II. She accumulated over 20 years with Civil Service serving in the Navy, F.H.A., Selective Service, R.O.T.C. at the University of Oklahoma, and the National Severe Storms Lab in Norman.
Mickey was married in 1945 to Samuel E. Tyo, Jr. where they settled in Oklahoma City, moving to Seminole and then to Norman. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church working as a Sunday school teacher for 4 year olds for over 20 years.
She is survived by her son and wife, Bill and Ruth Tyo of Edmond; daughter and husband, Ann and Steve Ross of Choctaw; granddaughter, Tiffany Ross and children, David and Taylen of Oklahoma City; grandson and wife, Brian and Nikki Smith, and children, Charlotte and Caroline of Rockwall, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oklahoma Eye Bank.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Primrose Funeral Service. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m., Thursday, November 2, 2017 at First Christian Church in Midwest City with pastor Mike Snell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman.
