Nancy Elizabeth Ferguson Madden was the widow of my father's eldest brother, who died in 1960.  She was quite proud of her name; it was a compilation of her two grandmothers' names: Nancy Ferguson and Elizabeth Carmon.

Over the years, she and I would visit and she taught me much about life during the Great Depression in rural Cleveland County, our families, and how she loved and missed my uncle James Delbert Madden, Sr.

Nancy was the essence of an independent woman who could tell a funny story and enjoy a humorous escapade. She enjoyed reading, especially Christian romance novels, and would live at the Norman Public library if they allowed it. She enjoyed art, and taught an art class at the Norman Senior Center several years ago. 

My personal thanks to the staff at Arbor House Assisted Living Center, where Nancy spent her final years.  Aunt Nancy has finally joined her love, Delbert, and I know they have a lot of catching up to do.
