Patsy Sue Peck was born August 23, 1932, near Hobart, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of four children and, as a small child, won a beauty pageant — an early glimpse of the charm and spirit she carried throughout her life.
Growing up on a farm, Patsy learned the value of hard work and the art of good cooking. Helping her mother prepare meals for the farmhands, she developed wonderful skills in the kitchen that would later serve her well as she fed and cared for her three sons. Her kitchen became a place of warmth, tradition, and love — though anyone helping quickly learned that while there may be many ways to do things, in Patsy’s kitchen there was only one way: hers.
In September 1952, Patsy married Charles Peck in San Francisco, beginning a 70-year marriage. They started their family in Hobart before moving to Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Although she was reluctant to leave Hobart, once she settled into her new home, she likely would have been just as reluctant to return. Sand Springs became home, and Patsy built a full and active life there.
She was involved in the Mothers’ Club, where she enjoyed the camaraderie — though it was never entirely clear whether the bigger draw was friendship or keeping close tabs on what her boys were up to. She also found opportunities to stay busy through her work at Kerr Glass and Remington Elementary.
Patsy’s favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, which gave her the perfect opportunity to try new recipes, gather family together, and fill the house with the smells and sounds of a meal prepared with care. Food was one of the ways she loved people, and her recipes will remain part of the family’s memory for years to come.
Nearly 25 years ago, Patsy and Charles moved to Norman, Oklahoma, where they became members of McFarlin Methodist Church. Patsy passed away on May 23 after a short illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her siblings, Frances, Peggy, and Bobby; and other loved ones who went before her.
She is survived by her three sons: Frank and his wife, Kathleen; Charles “Chuck” Peck Jr.; and Greg and his wife, Lisa. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Mary Jane and her husband, Alex, Geoff and his wife, Abbey, Clayton, and Carter; and her great-grandchildren, Oliver and Eliza.
Patsy will be deeply missed, but she leaves behind a lifetime of memories, a family shaped by her love, and a collection of recipes that will continue to keep her memory warm in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held at Primrose Funeral Service, 3901 N Flood Ave., Norman, OK 73069, US, on June 5, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and the Funeral Service will take place at Primrose Funeral Service at the same address on June 6, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
