

Richard was born on October 7, 1937, in Sayre, Oklahoma to Mae Addis Judd and Orville Lee Judd. He was third in line of their six children, with Leon, the eldest, followed by sisters Jean, Barbara, Della, and Wanda. Richard graduated from Leflore High School, and then enlisted in the United States Navy In 1955. His first duty station was on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. He married his high school sweetheart, Trebble Lavon Gibson in 1957, and they were married 57 years, until her death in 2014. They were blessed with three children, Kathy, Teresa, and Greg.
In 1965 Richard left the Navy, enlisting in the United States Air Force shortly afterwards. During his military service, the family lived in: Tennessee, Washington State, Nevada, Oklahoma, the Philippine Islands, Texas, and Montana.
Upon retiring from the Air Force as a Master Sgt. with 20 years of service, Richard worked as a Loan Officer and ranched cattle in Red Oak, OK, owned an appliance sales and repair shop in Beaver, OK, raised and raced Greyhound dogs in Noble, OK, and retired a second time in 2000 as Maintenance Superintendent from J D McCarty Hospital in Norman, OK.
He earned two Associate Degrees from Wilburton College, Ranch Management and Agriculture.
Richard was an active outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing in each new duty assignment and residence. He was a Mason. He was an avid golfer and even shot a hole in one. But service to his Lord was always central in his life. With every move to a new place, finding a place of worship for his family was given great importance, and he was a generous supporter of each new church. Richard served as a Deacon in the Southern Baptist Church, taught Sunday School, led Bible studies, worked in food pantries, helped with Bible School, and took on many other church responsibilities. Richard lived his faith, and raised his children in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
He is survived by wife, Kay Judd of their home in Norman; children: Kathy Judd Wolford and husband John Wolford of Oxford, NC, Teresa Autry, of Wilburton, OK; grandchildren: Joshua Jenkins of Emporia, VA, Andy Jenkins of Newport News, VA, and Cory Jenkins of Newport News, VA, Jonathan Hollingback of Yukon, OK, Tabitha Zurovetz, of McAlester, OK, Hannah Blue, of Wilburton, OK, Savanna Judd, of Moore, OK; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters: Jean Forman of Shattuck, OK, Della Lawson of Beaver, OK, Barbara Blassingame of Cairo, NE.
Richard is predeceased by wife, Trebble Lavon Judd, 2014, son, Gregory Lee Judd, 2017, brother Leon Judd, and sister Wanda Getz.
A military service with full honors will be held graveside on Tuesday, February 22, at 1:00 pm at the Fort Sill National Cemetery 2648 NE Jake Dunn Rd., Elgin, OK. Visitation will be at the Primrose Funeral Home in Norman, OK, on Monday, February 21, from 5:00 - 8:00.
