

Born February 16, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Dennis Freeman Willis and Rose Myrtle Lester, she lived her entire life in Oklahoma.
Mother attended Mount Saint Mary’s Elementary School and Capitol Hill High School before marrying her high school sweetheart, Dean Herbert Sperling. She later married David Bert Whetstone.
She worked for the Department of Human Services at the Capitol complex for 13 years before taking an early retirement to attend college. She retired after working for Duncan Regional Hospital for many years as an In Home Health Aid.
She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mother enjoyed gardening, cooking and crafting and reading the Bible. During her children’s school years she was often found baking dozens of cookies for the holidays and volunteering time at her children’s school. She served on the PTA at Heronville Elementary for many years.
Our angel is survived in passing by her daughter’s, Deborah Darlene Phillips, Lesli Annette Sperling, Julie Dawn Crouse, grandchildren, Alice Lavan Murphy-Box, Penelope Danielle Dryden, Gregory Ryan Phillips-Battle, Michael Logan Phillips, Hannah Laray Hill, and Addison Roach, and great grandchildren, Briana Marie Phillips, Alana Christine Dryden, Shayla Olivia Dryden, Leila Elizabeth Dryden and Callum Alexander Wayne Dryden and good friend, Nan Barrett.
Mother is preceded in passing by her father, Dennis Freeman Willis and mother, Rose Myrtle Lester, son, Vincent Dean Sperling, daughter, Angela Gay Hill, granddaughter, Tuesday Savannah Joray, and son-in-law’s, Raymond Hill Jr and Calvin Wayne Phillips.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the employees of Grace Living Center of Norman, Noble Health Care Center and Excell Hospice for their years of care, compassion and love for our beloved mother.
