

Nathan “Scott” Whitaker was born June 19, 1962 in Norman, Oklahoma the son of Nathan and Janie Whitaker. He passed away January 28, 2012 in Norman at the age of 49. Scott grew up in Noble, Oklahoma and attended Noble schools where he excelled in sports, especially track and field. He graduated in 1981.
He was married to Debbie K. Berry at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Elk City, Oklahoma on July 10, 1982. They lived in Noble before moving to Norman in 1987 to make their home.
Scott operated “Scott’s Carpet Cleaning Services” for several years and later worked with his father doing trim carpentry and tile work before taking over the business in 2004. Scott was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend who most enjoyed spending time with his family and helping others. He was a fun loving, hard working man who liked to travel, fish, and watch OU sports. His extraordinary courage, strength and hope were an inspiration to others during his battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David Bradley Whitaker. He is survived by his wife Debbie; daughters Shannon Marie Brown and her husband Jerry, of Norman, Kayla Beth Whitaker and Miranda Dawn Whitaker of Norman; 4 grandchildren, Cora, Alexander, Andrew, and Taylor of Norman; brother Charles Clayton “Chuck” Whitaker and wife Mary, Pauls Valley, OK; sisters Paulette Coulter and Penny Johnson of Norman, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A prayer service will be this evening at 6:00PM at Primrose Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30AM Wednesday, February 1, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Noble IOOF Cemetery.
