Shelia Marie Wallace was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, accomplished attorney, and lifelong horsewoman whose life was marked by intelligence, determination, and a generous spirit. She passed away on June 13, 2026, following a tragic automobile accident at the age of 67.
Born on May 8, 1959, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Shelia was the daughter of Joyce (Allison) and Clyde Darling. She moved from Texas to Norman, Oklahoma, in 1982, where she built a life centered on family, friendship, and a career dedicated to serving others.
A gifted attorney, Shelia earned her law degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1988, graduating Order of the Coif, one of the highest academic honors awarded by a law school. During her distinguished legal career, she achieved many professional accomplishments, including arguing a case before the United States Supreme Court. Her intellect, integrity, and commitment to justice earned the respect and admiration of colleagues, clients, and friends alike.
While her professional achievements were remarkable, the roles she treasured most were those of wife, mother, and grandmother. Shelia found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and creating memories with those she loved. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every opportunity to laugh, play games, bake cookies, and simply be together.
Shelia also had a lifelong love of horses. Riding, caring for them, and spending time in their company brought her immense happiness. She was especially proud of winning first place in a horse-riding competition and shared a special bond with her beloved horses, Irish and Drummer.
She enjoyed needlepoint, cooking, reading, and listening to all kinds of music. Whether preparing a meal for family and friends or settling in with a good book, Shelia embraced life's simple pleasures. Those who knew her will remember her adventurous spirit, her curiosity, and her ability to encourage others to live in the moment. She believed in trying new things, worrying less about tomorrow, and trusting that things would work out as they should.
On December 7, 2007, Shelia married the love of her life, R. Brown Wallace. Together they shared a marriage built on love, companionship, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Shelia is survived by her husband, R. Brown Wallace; son Joshua Tims and wife Jessica; stepson Carter Wallace and wife Ivonne; grandchildren Scotty, Kira, and Riker Tims; step-grandchildren Alex and Emma Wallace; her horse Drummer; and many other family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Shelia was preceded in death by her father Clyde Darling; mother Joyce Darling; brother Craig Darling; aunts Nancy Graham and Patsy Kinsman; son Heath Tims; and her beloved horse Irish.
The sudden loss of Shelia leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved her. Yet her legacy of strength, kindness, wisdom, perseverance, and unconditional love will continue through the family she cherished and the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the EQUUS Foundation, honoring Shelia's lifelong love of horses.
Family and friends will gather for visitation Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM at Primrose Funeral Service located at 3901 North Flood Avenue Norman, Oklahoma.
