Terry Gene Smith unexpectedly departed on November 7, 2022. He was born at Norman Regional Hospital to Jerry Otis Smith and Patricia Ann Smith on September 9, 1958. He was raised and spent his life in Norman, OK.
Terry was a loving husband and best friend to many. He was dedicated to his wife, family, friends, and work. He married the love of his life, Linda Boeck, in 1993. Over the years, Terry and Linda spent time fishing, traveling to Cabo, and hosting gatherings for family and friends.
Terry was a member of the Local 344 Plumbers and Pipefitters union for 41 years. In May 1999, he cofounded RST Plumbing and Mechanical Inc. with his brother Ronnie. A few key projects were Lindsay High School, North Rock Creek Middle School, and North Rock Creek High School in Shawnee.
Terry enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing and hunting and Formula 1 racing – his favorite team Ferrari, and favorite driver, Michael Schumacher. Terry was a great storyteller and knew how to have a good time. He never met a stranger in his travels or hobbies. For anyone that would listen, Terry would share his stories. You could always count on him to tell you like it was. All his friends knew they could “drop in for a beer” anytime.
Terry was preceded in death by his dad, Jerry Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Linda Smith, of the home; his mother, Patricia West Smith of Norman; his brother Ronnie Smith (Lisa Smith) of Slaughterville; his second mom, Georgia Smith of Norman; half-sister, Gayla Sims of Aurora, CO; and, step-brother, Michael Franklin (Cindy Franklin) of Norman; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered as a hardworking man, a friend you could always count on that was loved by many people. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, at The Hall at the Rail House in Norman.
Memorial donations in memory of Terry may be made to the American Heart Association Oklahoma City or the Oklahoma Wildlife Foundation.
