Tommy Lee Lester, of Norman, passed away on June 14, 2013 at the age of 69. Tommy was born in Claremore, OK to Tillie and Cloise Cox and was later adopted by H.F. Lester. Tommy joined the U.S. Navy in 1961 and served for 9 years as an Aviation Boatsman Mate. After the military he then completed a degree in Automotive Engineering in Bellingham, WA.
In 1969 he met and married the love his life Barbara Lester. After residing in Washington State for numerous years he returned to Oklahoma where he continued to work in his chosen field until he was injured. Tommy is a member of the DAV and VFW.
He is survived by his wife by Barbara Lester; three children, Tommy Lee Lester, Jr. of the Philippines, Tammy Burns of Norman, Jonathan Lester of Norman; his grandchildren Justin, Ashley, Shelby, Bear, and Nathan.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Primrose Chapel, 1109 N. Porter, Norman, OK. Memorial contributions can be made in Tommy’s name to the Oklahoma City Zoo Gorilla Habitat.
