

Vera "Lucile" Clark, a devoted mother, grandmother, and beloved member of her community, went home to be with her Savior on August 22, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 88. Born on March 29, 1937, to Mason and Erma Hickok in Noble, Oklahoma, Lucile lived a life defined by love, faith, and unwavering commitment to her family.
Growing up in the Noble and Little Axe communities, Lucile married Harold Washburn at age 15, and together they raised four children: Madeline, Karen, Linda, and Dean. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her immediate family, touching countless lives through her kindness and generosity. Lucile began her career working in the cafeteria at Little Axe School before pursuing her passion for cosmetology. After attending beauty college, she opened the "Magic Wand Beauty Salon" in Noble, later moving to Norman, where she successfully operated "Lucile’s" for many years.
Lucile’s thoughtfulness was legendary, particularly her tradition of sending heartfelt cards to every one of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for birthdays and special occasions. Despite her large family, she never forgot a single card, ensuring each family member felt loved and remembered with her personal touch. Her love for Christmas was equally cherished, as she delighted in giving gifts to all, spreading joy with her thoughtful gestures. A woman of deep faith, Lucile found strength and community at Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman.
Lucile was preceded in death by her parents, Mason and Erma Hickok; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice and Kenneth Belshe, Betty and Johnny Berry; her brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Yvonne Hickok; her sister-in-law, Carol Hickok; her brother, Bobby Joe Hickok; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Greg Berry; her granddaughter, Kristen Pierozak; her grandson, Bryan Washburn; her great-grandson, River Jones; and her late husbands, John Shaw and Zona Clark.
She is survived by her brothers, Leon Hickok of Noble, Oklahoma, Oris Hickok of Norman, Oklahoma, and Tim and Faye Hickok of Norman, Oklahoma; her daughters and sons-in-law, Madeline and Alan Blackard of Norman, Oklahoma, Karen and Mike Vinson of New Braunfels, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Christy Washburn of Perkins, Oklahoma; as well as fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the administration and staff at Brookdale Southwest in Oklahoma City for their compassionate and loving care during Lucile’s final days.
Lucile’s legacy of love, thoughtfulness, and faith will forever inspire her family and all who knew her. Her memory will be treasured always.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on September 13, 2025, at Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 200 W. Hayes St., Norman, Oklahoma. Flowers may be sent to Primrose Funeral Home, 1109 N. Porter Ave., Norman, Oklahoma 73071.
