Vera Ann Gober

Vera Ann Gober was born March 10, 1942 to Sterling and Ethel Mears (Stackhouse) in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Vera graduated from Charles Page High School with the class of 1960. She loved her family, her flowers, and Jesus.

She met her husband of 55 years, John Gober, at church. The two were married in 1961. John graduated from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy and Vera Graduated from Tulsa Business School. They had two daughters, Deborah and Karrie, before the OHP moved them to Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. There they lived for several years and had a son, Jason.

Vera worked as an office manager for what is now Cox Cable. She retired from Cox after 20 years of service. Vera and John moved to Norman, Ok later in life. They attended and were members of Calvary Church in Norman.

Vera loved her family and was great at making them feel loved. She also had many hobbies including gardening, painting and playing the piano. She was well-known for being a great cook and cooked large meals for her family on holidays. She did not want any of her children or grandchildren to be hungry and would offer to make their favorite foods any time they asked.

Vera is preceded in death by her parents Sterling and Ethel Mears, husband John Gober, son Jason Gober and grandson Austin Davis.

Left to cherish Vera’s precious memory are her sister Linda Woods and husband Jerry, daughter, Deborah Davis and spouse Joel, daughter, Karrie Ward, granddaughter Chrystal Baxter, grandson, Jeremiah Cope and spouse Kendra, granddaughter, Ashley Horn and spouse Dustin, grandson, Trey Davis and spouse Linzee, great-grandchildren, Kaylee Baxter, Kasen Eckert, Carson Eckert, Colton Cope, Caleb Cope, Byrce Davis, Bailey Davis, Trigger Lambeth and great-great grandchild Rhyder Lawerence.

A visitation for Vera will be held Monday, February 26, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Calvary Church, 3730 N Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071.
