W. Luther Jones

W. Luther Jones was born on July 18, 1934, in Braggs, Oklahoma. He was the son of William Henry and Olive (Pryor) Jones. He grew up in Byers, Oklahoma, attending Byers Public Schools. Following his education he entered the United States Army. Following his discharge he moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He married Elizabeth Lucille “Babe” Lopez in 1962 and they made their home in Oklahoma City. He began working for Unit Parts, and later worked for Le Pack Trucking as a driver. They later moved to country where he began raising livestock, and gardening. In 1998 Elizabeth “Babe” preceded him in death and he made his home in Oklahoma City.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Theron Jones, and Windell Jones; and two sisters, LaFay Gilley, and May Williams.

He is survived by his daughter, Lavita Spencer of Temple, Texas; four grandchildren, Joshua Murray of Oklahoma City, Amanda Murray of Temple, Texas, Heath Spencer of Temple, Texas, and Haley Spencer of Temple, Texas; two great grandchildren, Jaelena Murray and Jakobi Biggiers both of Temple, Texas; two brothers, Theodore Jones and wife Bonnie of Earlsboro, Oklahoma, and Sherman Jones and wife Pat of Arlington, Texas; and three sisters, Avo Morris of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Linda McCardy and husband Melvin of Oklahoma City, and Ruby Shelton of Beaverton, Oregon.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the Primrose Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park.
