Services for Wayne D. Stanfield, 69, of Lexington, will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the Primrose Chapel with Rev. Rick Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service.
Wayne was born October 24, 1943, to Ulysses and Gladys Victoria (Cox) Stanfield in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He worked for 11 years at General Motors and then as an aircraft mechanic for five years at Tinker Air Force Base.
Wayne enjoyed bowling, especially at his favorite venue, Planet Bowl where he developed many lifelong friends. He loved the sport of boxing in which he participated in his younger years and later trained his three sons to compete. One of his favorite pastimes was to take people out to eat because he so much enjoyed their company. He also enjoyed taking family trips to Branson, Silver Dollar City and Florida. Mr. Stanfield was an avid volunteer at his church helping with various maintenance repairs. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them very much. Also, he was very proud of his three boys and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Caroline Stanfield of the home; three sons, Wayne Stanfield and his wife Charlotte, Randy Stanfield and his wife Shonsea, Wendell Stanfield and his wife Kelli; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his brother, Wendell Stanfield and his wife Jeri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Forrest Stanfield, Carl Stanfield, and Randy Stanfield.
