

Capt. Willard Leo Mattmiller -USMC Ret. born 9/19/1932 in Lansing KS to Willard A. Mattmiller and Roberta Cook Mattmiller. Enlisted in Marine Corps in 1949. Received his Bachelors in Business at Central Missouri State in 1954, Commissioned in 1955.
“Matt” did 2 tours in Viet Nam. Was deployed to Guantanamo Bay late October 1962 while steaming back from Vieques. Numerous other Floats and Deployments.
In 1959 he married Lt. Pauline Patterson -USMC while at Beaufort SC. He often joked with family that the Marine Corps issued him a wife. Soon had two sons about 2 years apart. He could not bear to discipline a child or dog.
He enjoyed Scouting and Wood-badge. Red Cross Volunteer. Avid reader of US and Military History and Trivia. Loved March music (John Phillip Sousa), Bag Pipes, Classical music.
Preceded in Death by wife (of 52 years): Pauline P. Mattmiller, son: John P. Mattmiller, brother John H. Mattmiller, sister: Helen Patricia (Dyer) Miller, mother: Roberta Cook Mattmiller and father Willard A. Mattmiller. Survived by son: Daniel Mattmiller, and several dedicated and loving nephews and nieces in Missouri, California, Ohio and Oklahoma.
A wake for Willard will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071. A rosary will occur Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071. A funeral mass will occur Friday, July 12, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Thomas More University Parish and Student Center, 100 Stinson St, Norman, OK 73072. Burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
