Bernadette Anita Suchan

March 14, 1961May 12, 2020

It is with great sadness we must announce the passing of Bernadette "Berny" Suchan (March 14, 1961- May 12, 2020) after an intense and heart-wrenchingly short battle with pancreatic cancer on the palliative ward at the Battlefords Union Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Murray Suchan, and their 3 children, Jessica, Roxanne (Ryan Bedient), and Vincent. She adored her two grandsons through Roxanne, Anthony Bedient (6) and James Bedient (3). She leaves behind two elder sisters, Audrey Frey and Delores Duchcherer, three elder brothers, Dennis Frey (Laura), Ron Frey (Judy), and Walter Frey (Gloria), and sister-in-law Joan Frey. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Berny is predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Katherine Frey, elder brother Jim Frey (Joan), elder sisters Francis Sander (Steve) and Margo Ross (Jason), and brothers-in-law Steve Sander and Glenn Duchcherer.

Berny will be remembered for her generous, loving heart, beautiful garden, and delicious cooking. She's cultivated many lasting friendships in every place she's lived - Wilkie, Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw, Yorkton, Nipawin, and North Battleford.

Berny fought as long and hard as she could and stayed aware for her last days in palliative care. We are grateful Berny's last days were comfortable, due in large part to the dedicated staff on the palliative care ward, and surrounded by family.

We thank you all for all your words of support, thoughts and prayers. We ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society to give more weapons and support to the ongoing war against cancer. A service for Berny will be held at a later date due to Covid-19 regulations. Condolences can be posted at www.sallowsandmcdonald.com Sallow & McDonald – Wilson & Zehner Funeral Home, Wally Markewich in care of arrangements . 306-445-2418

It is with immense sadness that I write this message. Thank you to you Murray and The kids for writing such a beautiful obituary sharing pieces of her beautiful Life. I missed her when she moved to Yorkton from Moosejaw, then again when we moved to Ontario. I am so thankful for all my memories and will always be grateful that the 2 of you were able to visit a few years ago in Barrie! There are so many things I loved about her, where to start. Definitely her cooking and willingness to share her recipes. I always envied her green thumb and was so happy her cactus bloomed before she left our beautiful world. My favourite things about Bernie- her soft gentle voice, her genuine laugh, her smile that went to her eyes. Her kindness to everyone. Her acceptance, patience and Love of life. Her ability to share her deepest thoughts and bare her soul openly. Murray the 2 of you hit the jackpot when you found each other. I am so glad that you had 39 wondering years together. I am also grateful she got to feel the pure innocent joy of her 2 grandchildren. Love and gentle hugs to you and your entire family and friend circle who will miss her forever.❤️

So sorry to hear of Berny’s passing. I worked with her at Central Park School. She had a heart of gold, had so much love for the kids that she helped every morning, and made the best cookies!!
