Such a kind heart and easy to make laugh! My favourite memory was when I was a new mom and had taken my 4 month old son to see Tracy and fam in Tisdale for a visit. On our way home to HB I had vehicle trouble. Darren drive out to rescue us and take us back to Tracy’s and took us to grocery store for formula. I was almost frantic and his calm helpful manner was such a blessing!

I really looked forward to coffee breaks with Darren, I loved listening to his life stories. He was a really captivating man to be around and I was hoping he would some day come back to work.

I will miss him.

I had the pleasure of working with Darren in his capacity as a safety manager at Turtleford Co-op. He was a pleasure to know and impressed me with his creativity and rapid uptake of safety knowledge. We worked closely together on the challenges he faced in the role and I always enjoyed coming to Turtleford to assist him. I know he faced many physical challenges and this last challenge was one he didn't deserve. I followed his cooking adventures on social media and what he created always looked fantastic. Over the last year I spoke with him occasionally, more so just after he was diagnosed, and I was very saddened to hear of his passing. I hope he had a peaceful end and I trust his memory will live on forever as he was a special person. He was someone I was glad to call a friend. My deepest condolences to his family. Rest in Peace, Darren.

My mom is Margaret Petrinchuk and she loved Darren. She always was a rink rat and everybody’s hockey Grandma. The first time Lorraine & Fred put him on skates he could barely stand up! When he finally got it everyone was sooo proud especially my mom! Darren was sooo proud of himself too! I still remember his smile at that very first skating carnival. He was a great guy that will be dearly missed. Rest peacefully Woody.
