Frank will be remembered a kind, gentle man who loved his family, and friends. He also had a great love of nature; trees, fields, sunsets, and animals of all kinds.
Frank was born on July 28th, 1927 in Battleford, SK to parents Evelyn and Blanche at what was the Gray Nuns Hospital, now long forgotten.
Frank’s early years were spent on the farm at Delmas, SK. Now where Charlie and Marion Sayers now live. Later, they moved to the Glenrose area where his parents rented a farm from Archie Finlayson for a few years. Franks father was then able to buy the farm where son Bruce now lives. Frank lived on that farm until he was able to buy his own farm where he spent his lifetime.
In the late 1940’s, Frank went to Saskatoon, SK to enroll in a mechanics course. To help pay his expenses Frank delivered parcels for a drug store, using his bicycle – so he knew Saskatoon fairly well, luckily it was much smaller! Once he finished the course, he was a capable, helpful mechanic for many years, fixing anything with a motor, or needing repairs. He even had a business called Riverview Repair.
Frank wasn’t lucky in love once but twice. Myrna and Frank found the way to each other’s hearts and were married in 1983. Blending a family of adult children, the two of them made the farm a home full of love. Both loving nature and not scared of a little hard work, they were proud of what they created.
Over the years the Edward's farm was a loving home to various animals – horses, cattle, goats, and his lovely chickens plus many cats and dogs. Frank also farmed the land, always looking forward to spring each year that brought a new beginning for everything. Each day Frank carefully documented the daily temperatures, rainfall and conditions, just like his father did. There are books and books of it!
Frank is predeceased by his first wife Beatrice (Betty) (September 14th, 1979), after a long battle of cancer. Beatrice was a lucky lady who had Frank answer a newspaper ad for a partner while she was working on a sheep ranch in Maple Creek, SK. They were married for 29 years having three children.
Frank is also predeceased by his eldest daughter, Gloria Rumpf (2005) and step-daughter Wendy (2006), both of cancer.
Frank leaves behind his loving wife, Myrna, recently celebrated 42 years together. His two children, Audrey, of Qu’Appelle, SK, and Bruce (Debbie) and daughter Samantha. Son-in-law Henry (Irene) sons; Allan, children Kaitlyn (Josh), Braden and Emily; Perry (Karen) children Anna (Jordan), Garrett, and Liam; Wayne; Mark (Britt) and daughter Lauren. Two great great grandsons and Janalee Rumpf. Frank also leaves to mourn his five adult step-kids and their families who accepted and looked up to Frank. Always appreciating and loving him for how much he loved their mom.
As any good farmer respects the land and environment, Frank requested cremation with little fuss. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 1302 99 Street, North Battleford, SK at 11AM on October 2nd, 2025 followed by a time of fellowship at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #70, 1352 100 Street, North Battleford, SK.
Donations in Frank’s honour may be made to Lady Minto House in Edam, SK, or the Battlefords Union Hospital, both of where Frank received the best care.
