

Sergeant First Class (SFC) Benden honorably served in the United States Armed Forces for over 22 years. During his service he was a Drill Sergeant and completed a tour in Vietnam, where he was wounded in combat. He was known as "Sarg" by family and friends. Ken Retired from the Army in 1979 and moved with his family to North Bend, Washington, where he worked at Weyerhaeuser, retiring in 2002.
Ken's interests included sports and fishing. He was an avid fan of football and baseball. He spent many afternoons cheering on his favorite team the Pittsburg Steelers. He enjoyed night fishing along the Snake River in Eastern Washington, mostly fishing for catfish. He caught many fish but never the big one, "Jaws."
He devoted his life to his family. He is survived by his beautiful wife Ursula J. Benden, his children Diann E. Wilson, Richard K. Benden, John W. Benden, Ursula L. Churchman, Jane Soutner, Gabriela Weigel, and 6 grandchildren.
Ken will be laid to rest in Pennsylvania where his mother, father, and sister are buried. He will be missed.
